Poor Yorick DVD Frequently asked questions

Q. Really? A real DVD? What will be on it?

A. Yes, it's real! Lots of music and art: fun stuff like out our Frictionless World video from the past, slideshows of action stills from recent live performances, a mosaic movie of our crowd dancing at a live show, a high-quality movie of our Virtual Noise performance at UT in 1995, MP3's of work in progress or finished new songs for the upcoming album, and perhaps other high-quality, edited, squeaky-clean MP3's of previously relased songs, and other items. Here are some samples.

Q. What's it called?

A. "Yorick-upon-Austin", a play on Shakespeare's origin, Stratford-upon-Avon.

Q. Why is Poor Yorick making a DVD?

A. In the course of James' job as a computer consultant, it is frequently necessary to learn new computer hardware and software. James (that's me!) decided to tackle learning to make home digital videos and DVD's by developing a fully digital project for Poor Yorick. To that end, James has now spent many hours not only learning to use some semi-professional graphic and digital movie editing software, but fleshing out the content of the DVD. Extensive new, all-original graphic art (such as you see on this page), digitally enhanced videos and movies, and homemade silly stuff from built-in templates are just some of the features that will make this DVD a collector's item and MUST HAVE for Yorickians.

Q. When will it be ready, and where can I get it?

A. We don't know when it will be ready...the content is still being discussed among the band members and much work is still to be done, and we'd rather finish the current audio CD project first. When it is ready, an email will be sent to everyone on our mailing list. (Would you like to join our mailing list?) Check back at this site, or our main web site, http://notty.homestead.com, for the status.

Q. How can you make a DVD, aren't they really expensive, and if it's homemade, will it work in my DVD player?

A. Excellent question! (who writes these anyway?) Yes, commercially produced DVD's are very expensive to create, duplicate, and distribute. The Poor Yorick DVD
